Mission
The Illinois Psychiatric Rehabilitation Training
Institute is based on the idea that training in psychiatric rehabilitation
is maximally effective if it marries the expertise and knowledge base of
clinical researcher-educators with the firsthand experience and
credibility of front-line psychiatric rehabilitation practitioners. IPRTI is designed to: ¨
Promote high quality psychiatric rehabilitation services
throughout the state of Illinois by conducting training needs assessment,
and providing training, consultation, and resources to state operated
facilities and community service providers. ¨
Ensure that staff working in state operated facilities and
community providers responsible for psychiatric rehabilitation services
possess the competencies necessary to perform quality psychiatric
rehabilitative services. ¨
Disseminate knowledge of evidence-based practices and help
facilitate their implementation. ¨
Maintain a focus on principles of psychiatric rehabilitation
and the identification of core competencies for practices in keeping with
these principles. ¨ Support and encourage consumer involvement in all aspects of psychiatric rehabilitation, including consumer involvement in the development, design and delivery of training and consultation. Goal
Promote psychiatric rehabilitation services via
training and consultation for the state of Illinois, by utilizing the
partnership of an academic institution, Indiana University - Purdue
University Indianapolis (IUPUI), and a psychiatric rehabilitation agency,
Thresholds. Description
