Policies and Procedures

In order to take a test, you must have an IUPUI Jagtag with you.

Usage

Taking tests is the only activity permitted in the lab. Other activities, e.g., sending emails or checking the gradebook, should be done in the adjacent open lab.

First Time

Upon arriving at the lab, you must scan your Jagtag using the card reader in the lab lobby. Then, you will type in your OnCourse username twice. Then, enter the lab and a proctor will direct you to a computer. After the first visit to the lab, you will not have to enter your username.

Accessing the Test

Instructions on how to access the tests are printed on the computer’s desktop screen. Follow these directions and enter your OnCourse username and password to access your test.

Academic Integrity

Developing and maintaining an environment where honesty and integrity are valued makes any academic or work setting more attractive and rewarding. Both faculty and students have responsibilities to create this type of university. As faculty members and students for this course, we pledge to support the values of honesty and integrity in this psychology course. Toward this goal, we will treat each other fairly and with respect. We will refrain from any form of academic dishonesty or deception. We are aware that as members of the academic community, it is also our responsibility to help others maintain their honesty and integrity . Toward this end, we will support each other when our actions indicate honesty and integrity. We will also respectfully remind each other of our commitment to these values when our actions violate them.

If a proctor notices any breaches of academic integrity, for example, eyes on another student’s screen, talking with another student, or using a cell phone for any purpose, the proctor will send a report to your instructor, describing the observed behaviors. The instructor will then take appropriate action.

Rules

  • All belongings must be left at the front of the lab; bring as little as possible to the lab.
  • A test must be completed once it is open. If you must leave the lab, the test will be submitted and your test score will be based on the answers completed prior to leaving the testing lab.

  • Talking is prohibited in the lab.
  • Books, notes, cell-phones, and other electronics are prohibited.
  • Answering or using a cell phone in the testing lab will result in the student being asked to leave.
  • If you suspect a student is cheating, click the “Exclamation Triangle” icon located on the testing page. A proctor will be anonymously notified.
  • If you need help during the test, you may request the help of only a proctor by clicking the “Pencil & Book” icon located on the testing page.
  • Lines are the longest on the day that tests close. Plan accordingly.
  • The lab closes at stated closing times. At this point, all students must close their tests.
  • Proctors are available to assist students and maintain the integrity of the testing lab. They are not able to answer questions related to specific course policies.
